1. Submitting a paper

Authors should submit their manuscript(s) in an MSWord format, to the Editor by e-mail:

  • editor.miup@gmail.com
  • editor@miu.ac.ug

The e-mail should contain the main body containing the name/s of the author/s, affiliation and address information. No hard copies are required.

Do not submit a paper which has been published previously or is simultaneously being submitted elsewhere.

2. Formatting and style

Please use the following rules for whole text, including abstract, keywords, heading and references.

– Page setup

1. Margins: 1 Inch (2,54 cm) on all sides (top, bottom, left, right)

2. Font Size and Type: 10-pt. Tahoma font

3. Line Spacing: Single spaced throughout the paper, including the title page, abstract, body of the document, references, appendixes, footnotes, tables, and figures.

4. Alignment: Justified

5. Orientation: Portrait

6. Page size: A4

– Preparation of text

1. Title: 12 pts Tahoma, uppercase and lowercase letters bolded and centered

2. Name(11pts Tahoma) and personal information(10pts Tahoma) (academic title, institutional affiliation and e-mail address) should be placed under the title.

3. Abstract: (200 words) should include the following: aim, method, results and conclusion. The abstract must be written in Tahoma, Font Size 10 and Italic.

4. Keywords: up to 5 key words, Tahoma, Font Size 10 and bolded.

5. Spacing: Between abstract and main text, you should leave two empty lines.

6. Subdivision of the article: The papers should be structured in title and subtitle sections and should be numbered: 10 pts, alignment left (the abstract is not included in section numbering). Between title section and main text one empty line should be left.

– Example of subdivision of the article:

1.1.1 Analysis Result

Tables and figures should be included within the text of the paper and must be numbered, please use for the tables Tahoma 9 pts.

– References and Footnotes

References should follow the referencing style used by the American Psychological Association (APA) in alphabetical order. All sources cited in the paper must be included in the References section.

– Citations in the text

Source material must be documented in the body of the paper by citing the author(s) and date(s) of the sources. Please ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice versa). Avoid citation in the abstract. Unpublished results and personal communications should not be in the reference list, but may be mentioned in the text. Citation of a reference as “in press” implies that the item has been accepted for publication.

Footnotes: Content footnotes are occasionally used to support substantive information in the text. Place the footnotes at the end of the page: 10-pt. Tahoma.

4.Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission’s compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor). An exception to this would be that of articles that are a translation of an article previously published 

If elements of this submission have been previously published, a supplementary document is included giving details of each publication, and indicating how this submission differs and builds upon the research and conclusions contained in the previous work.

  1. A biographical note of the author is provided, including affiliation, postal and email contact details, and an ORCID number.
  2. The submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
    The text employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  4. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined. 
  5. The abstract is a comprehensive summary of the aims of the research, the methodology or methodologies used and the main findings or contributions to the field.

The Creative Commons Non-Commercial Attribution No-Derivatives licence is our default licence, further details available at http://creativecommons.org/ If this is not acceptable to you, please contact us. Use of this licence means that you are free to republish the article in this version or revised, however, we ask that you cite this version and provide a link to its location. The licence also allows others to use and copy the article, but only with acknowledgement, and for non-commercial purposes.

As soon as an accepted article is edited by MIU Journals and approved by author(s) and editor(s), it will be stored in our repository. 

The permission you grant to us includes the rights to disseminate the bibliographic details of the article, including the abstract supplied by you, and to authorise others, including bibliographic databases, indexing and contents alerting services, to copy and communicate these details.

The Copyright Notice showing the author and co-authors, and the Creative Commons licence will be displayed on the article, and you must agree to this as part of the submission process. Please ensure that all co-authors are properly attributed and that they understand and accept these terms.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
